Karen first discovered her passion for wine while studying at Washington State University. After completing her BS in Microbiology and MS in Food Science Karen moved back to California to work in a Food Research Laboratory. Even though she enjoyed her job, she could not get winemaking off her mind. She spent her weekends visiting wineries, enjoying group tastings with friends and thinking about creating wine. This quickly made her realize her heart was in wine and she took the next step and moved to Lodi, an appellation with a long history of grape growing and wine making.
Karen’s first step into the industry was working as an Enologist for Robert Mondavi at the Woodbridge winery. Her passion and dedication eventually led her to become Winemaker at Woodbridge where she was responsible for the red wine program.
In 2008 Karen joined the LangeTwins team. Karen’s goal is to make wines that are a true reflection of the vintage, the variety and the place. Through the winemaking process Karen is able to highlight the best features in each varietal as well a craft blends that represent the best of the region.
